Why can float in the pool? | Thami Physics
You've probably seen someone floating in a pool, have probably also seen that some objects sink and some do not. For example, who never played this search currencies, or dominoes at the bottom of the pool? Who ever saw planks of styrofoam floating in the sea?
Not the most 'heavy' material (greater mass) which sinks but the denser material. This is an important observation .. So objects with density greater foam armor than water afudam it and lower density float. For example we could have .. 10kg Styrofoam and it does not sink into the pool, because the density of the foam is 0.1 g / cm 3 (10-fold water qa), as few grams of lead quickly sink (density Lead 11.3 g / cm 3). Regardless of the fact weigh 10kg more than a few grams.
The relative density of a body depends on its composition. The relative density of lean mass, bone and fat mass, for example, is 1.0, 1.5 and 0.8 respectively. The density of the human body is slightly smaller than that of water (0.974 on average), and normally older women and have a greater ability to float. This is because women have, in general, higher fat mass than men and older people have, plus more fat mass, lower bone density than a young adult. The tendency of the body is acquiring more fat and lose muscle and bone mass, so the relative density tends to 0.86 in the elderly. [1]
O, when alive, human being has the ability to change their density. So regardless of whether we are fat or thin, men or women, young or old. We could either float, sink as. Simply varying the amount of air in the lungs. With lungs full of air, we increase our volume and air being less dense than water our body tends to rise and then boiamos. If you want you can do this test, standing in a shallow pool (for security reasons), release all air from the lungs, realize that you will fast on the pool floor.
Trivia: Salt water is slightly heavier than fresh water, because foam armor it contains dissolved minerals. Therefore it is easier to float in salt water than in fresh. The Dead Sea, located in the Middle East, is a huge lake formed by water with a higher salt content of the planet. At the Dead Sea the density of salt water is very large and the person floats without any physical effort.

Good point Yklys with your comment, remember that I forgot something important. Good talked about the density, and the ship has a lower density than water unlike the nail (the volume of the ship is huge and contains a lot of air, remember that density is mass / volume). What explains because a floater and another sinks .. But there is another factor not mentioned before, is the area of contact with water, note qo ship has a huge contact area, unlike nail .. it also influences .. anyway ... a person does not float upright on the water. I appreciate the comment.

our very good this story .. I was searching for doing work at school and it was enough to read this page on the net, I figured it out .. and took the maximum grade in school. Good to know that there is still good search sites on the Internet ..
